Some characteristic properties of the bottom reverberation in the coastal regions of the ocean

The results of the bottom reverberation investigations carried out in the Kamchatka peninsula region are presented. It is shown that the application of the method of over a period subtraction of reverberation signals is effective if the period of the probe pulses of a frequency of 600-800 Hz does not exceed 30-40 seconds. Some reasons of the experimentally observed distinct broadening of the spectrum of the received reverberation signals (up to 3-4 Hz) compared to the spectrum of the emitted tone signal are discussed. It is shown that this happens mostly due to the presence in the multi ray reverberation signal which involves not only scattered components but "glitter" signals also with the relatively large amplitude.
