The conducted researches have shown the possibility of mechanical skin properties evaluation in plastic surgery by means of acoustic method, especially properties of lower extremities skin in prognostication of implant insertion for the form correction as well as for determination of skin resection directions in breast surgery. For the implementation of the acoustic method an acoustic tissue analyser was used, which allowed the measurements of surface wave propagation speed in the acoustic frequency range of 5-6 kHz. As objective parameters for evaluation of mechanical skin properties were chosen the values of surface wave propagation speed in cross-perpendicular directions as well as the acoustic anisotropy factor.
